Wilson Senior Care Breaks Ground on $800,000 Expansion Project for The Rehab Center at Morrell

On October 2, 2013 The Rehab Center at Morrell broke ground on a nearly $800,000 expansion project including both interior and exterior renovations. The renovations are intended to enhance the rehabilitation experience and offer additional amenities to patients and visitors. The construction will include expanding the rehab gym, creating 4 patient suites, constructing The Courtyard Café at Morrell, and enhancing the rehab entrance with a covered canopy.

The gym expansion project will add over 3,000 square feet of additional therapy space enabling the center to accommodate additional patients. The new gym will be equipped with state of the art equipment and furnishings. Bright color schemes and polished contemporary designs will provide both an energetic and motivating setting ideal for rehab patients.

This project will also include the creation of four patient suites. These suites are designed to address the patient’s comfort and privacy while creating an atmosphere ideal for individuals needing short-term rehab.

Rehab patients and visitors will find the dining experience enhanced by the construction of The Courtyard Café at Morrell. This café will create a space where rehab patients can enjoy dining outside of their rooms. It will also provide a comfortable sitting area for visitors to relax, while waiting on their loved one to complete therapy sessions. Patients and visitors will have access to Wi-Fi internet, multiple televisions and complementary snacks while in the Café.

The final phase of this expansion will include a covered entrance to The Rehab Center at Morrell which will improve the access into the building for patients and visitors.

Kelly Pruitt Executive Director states, “We started our short term rehab with 24 beds. Over the last 5 ½ years we have adjusted our growth based on the needs of the community and grown to what is now a 56 bed short-term rehab center. We appreciate the support we have received from our local community. Our goal is for The Rehab Center at Morrell to be the FIRST choice of the patients and physicians in this community”.

The entire renovation project will focus on providing rehab patients with the optimal therapeutic environment so that they achieve their goals quickly and return to their homes with full-functionality.  Anticipated completion of the expansion is early 2014.
